Rema Breaks 41 Year Old Billboard Record With Raves And Roses

Rema’s musical contributions have emerged as one of Nigeria’s most significant exports in recent years.

Nigerian afrobeats sensation Rema has achieved a remarkable feat by breaking a forty-one-year-old record on the US Billboard Albums chart with his globally acclaimed album, ‘Rave and Roses.’

Rema’s inaugural album, ‘Rave and Roses,’ has astonishingly maintained a presence on the US Billboard Albums Chart for a total of 31 weeks. This achievement surpasses the previous milestone set by afro-juju legend King Sunny Ade, whose 1982 album ‘Juju Music’ remained on the US Billboard chart for 29 weeks.

Following King Sunny Ade’s record, no other Nigerian artist came close to achieving such a feat on the Billboard music charts for several years. However, a resurgence began in 2017, as Nigerian artists once again started making appearances on the charts. This revival began with Wizkid’s third album ‘Sounds From the Other Side,’ which entered the US Billboard 200 chart at #107.

Since 2017, other Nigerian musicians, including Davido, Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Okay, and Asake, have secured spots on the US Billboard charts.

Rema’s introduction to the music scene showcased an extraordinary display of talent that captivated audiences worldwide. The elevation of afrobeats in global recognition is evident through Rema’s debut album’s continuous breaking of barriers and setting new records.

Rema’s deluxe release of ‘Rave and Roses’ demonstrates that the young artist is brimming with surprises, leaving us eagerly anticipating his future endeavors.
