PUNCH Metro reports that some motorists were on Wednesday stranded on the Jos-Abuja Road within the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State as angry protesters blocked the road over incessant attacks by G0nmen suspected to be herdsmen.

It was gathered that the latest protest followed an attack on Kum community by the G0nmen, which led to the k!lling of two vigilantes, identified as Titus John and Ilya Dalyop.

The lawmaker representing Riyom Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Timothy Dantong, confirmed the k!lling of the two men to our correspondent in Jos on Wednesday.

He said, “Kum community has been facing constant threat of attack by herdsmen, but they never succeeded.

“We have been talking to the STF about the situation, but surprisingly, the STF personnel withdrew from the community on Sunday and when we enquired to know the reason for their action, the STF said members of the community were harassing them.

“A few hours after their withdrawal, the herdsmen militia surrounded the whole community, but with the intervention of other neighbouring communities, their planned attacks on the people were repelled without any casualty. But on Tuesday night, the herdsmen militia regrouped and killed two villagers.”
