Man Sentenced For R*ping 5-year-old Child In Cross River

A man identified as Joshua Onoyom has been convicted by the Family Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 5-year-old child.

Onoyom was convicted by Hon. Justice E.E. Ita, the presiding Judge of the Family Court on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

The conviction was secured courtesy of the Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI)

Confirming the development in a statement, Head of BRCI, Bar. James Ibor, said the convict will be sentenced on Friday, July 23.

“Hon. Justice E.E Ita (of Calabar Family Court Judicial Division) has just convicted Joshua Onoyom for the r@pe of a 5year old Child. Sentencing is tomorrow 23rd July, 2021. BRCI would like to appreciate the Judiciary, the Hon. Attorney General, the Commissioner of Police, Blessing Egwu, Staff & Volunteers of Basic Rights Counsel Initiative (BRCI) and Child Protection Network for all your help” the statement read.
