Lionel Messi Surpasses Cristiano Ronaldo With Most Guinness World Record

The rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will continue to be a topic of conversation till both of them decide to leave the game.

The former Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain player official took a step ahead of the Portuguese International in the number of Guinness world records currently held by each player. The body confirmed on its official Twitter account on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, that Messi is now clear of Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have both shared a lot of records between themselves from the player with the most Ballon d’Or awards, amongst other records. The Argentine has won the award seven times while Ronaldo has won it five times.

“For now, Messi is clear of Ronaldo. Lionel Messi has 41 @GWR titles whereas Cristiano Ronaldo has 40.”

Messi leads the top five with 41 records, and Ronaldo has 40 in second place. Robert Lewandowski (9), Kylian Mbappe (5) and Neymar (4) complete the top five.
