Ishaku Berates Taraba Lawmakers For Claiming Federal Government Projects As Personal Efforts
Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has expressed sadness at the way and manner some national assembly members from the state have been laying claims to federal government projects in the state.
The Governor who on Monday made his feelings known while briefing journalists in Jalingo expressed sadness that lawmakers, instead of attracting projects to their constituencies are busy claiming to have executed federal government projects.
He said,
” it’s been observed that some executing agencies have been used over the years for the execution and implementation of federal government constituency projects in Taraba State for certain senatorial districts and federal constituencies, notwithstanding their previous budget performance as it was poorly executed, unspecified, abandoned or even nonexistent.”
Citing the numerous federal government projects for Taraba state that were captured in the 2020 federal government budget but were claimed by the national assembly members from the state as personal projects, he said the need for relevant authorities to call such representatives to order has become necessary.
The state government, he said,
“has observed that certain zonal intervention projects and consolidated capital projects are seen by Tarabans as individual projects rather than federal government constituency projects that they truly are. ”
Ishaku said;
”The conceptualization of government project interventions as individual efforts has become worrisome to the state government”.
”The players are our supposed representatives who have cornered our sovereign wealth to become theirs.”
“The big question presently agitating the minds of the people is that the little space given them at the constituency level has been mortgaged.”
“How can we now or in the future aggregate our collective mandate for such representatives to lead us or provide leadership at the state level”.
