DSS Allows Nnamdi Kanu Access To Lawyer

The Department of State Security Service has agreed to allow the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to meet with his lawyers.

This was disclosed by Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, through his Twitter handle yesterday.

“Update, Thankfully Our effort is yielding the desired result. We have just received a communication approving our visit to our client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Shall keep the world posted on the outcome, immediately after the meeting later in the Day. God is with us,” Ejiofor tweeted.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to grant Kanu and other members of IPOB amnesty for peace to reign in the country.

A Lagos-based socio-political activist and critic, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, who gave the advice in a statement, yesterday, in Lagos, said there were too many daunting problems confronting the nation currently, which needed all hands to tackle.

“We, democrats and lovers of Nigeria wish to implore President Buhari and the Federal Government to please grant Nnamdi Kanu and all IPOB members amnesty in the interest of peace in the country.

This call is in line with the amnesty granted the Niger Delta militants and recently the Fulani bandits and terrorists as canvassed by prophet Gumi.

“The loud agitations in all parts of the country are results of serious injustice in our system and the agitations cannot be addressed with iron hands or state brutal force. Otherwise we are heading for war, which Nigeria cannot afford this time around. Let us all address the injustice in Nigeria,” he said.

Onitiri noted that where there could never be peace in the face of injustice.

“President Buhari should address the agitations in the country. Nigerians are not happy; they are seriously angry with the government,” he added.
