Dr Tunde Diya Foundation & The Yellow Initiative Clocks 2

Dr Tunde Diya Sits And Engages With Dr Jide Idris, Former Honourable Commissioner Of Health, Lagos State, As They Discuss The Importance Of Healthcare Policies Affecting Nigerians And How Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubus’ Presidency Will Grow The Healthcare Sector.

The Chairman Dr Tunde Diya Foundation and The Yellow Initiatives who was also recently appointed as a member of the Healthcare Transformation Coalition for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ( HTC 4 BAT ) founded and led by the Coordinator of the Coalition, Dr. Jide Idris, former honourable Commissioner of health and the longest serving health Commissioner in Nigeria with a record 12 years, who served under three Administrations and Governors in Lagos State ; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode respectively. Dr Tunde Diya sat with Dr Idris on the same day of the foundations’ Two year Anniversary discussing pertinent issues plaguing the healthcare sector in Nigeria. Dr Idris’ idea was clear; build a response plan and not a reactionary plan. How? through thoroughly reviewed healthcare policies.

The Healthcare Transformation Coalition for Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to start the conversation that has never been had before, prior to any presidential elections in Nigeria. Professionals in the healthcare space always take the back burner when elections are around the corner. This time around, the HTC for BAT will engage Healthcare Professionals across the 6 Geopolitical Zones and 36 states including the FCT in creating the platform needed and the dialogue channel to rally around a President who cares about the healthcare and wellbeing of the Nigerians with proof to back his genuine concern by way of his excellent performance in the healthcare sector when he was Lagos State Governor.

This we believe is a guide for him on how to transform the healthcare sect000or as directly ‘heard’ from the horses mouth. Social issues from planned parenthood, to Malaria, the biggest killer of children under the age of 5 and pregnant women in Sub-Saharan Africa, to Mental health issues, Drug/Substance abuse, Geriatric care for the aged, Tuberculosis, Assisted Reproductive Technology and more diseases that affect Socioeconomic Development in Nigeria, will be debated by brilliant minds both within the healthcare sector and other sectors.

During the launch of the foundation, 2 years ago, on the 7th of July, 2020, under the 6 points, Objectives of the DTDF/TYI, Dr Babatunde Diya pledged to give FREE healthcare treatment to 2,500 Men, Women, Children, Pregnant Women and the aged, across Odogbolu Local Government by December 2022. Currently, approximately 1,800 Odogbolu Local Government residents have been attended to and treated by the Foundations healthcare team with their Biodata and health assessment information collated for further follow-up.

The Foundation is committed to delivering on its promises and adding new pledges of FREE Diagnostic tests such as CT scans and Ultrasound scans, with a FREE treatment of End-Stage Renal Disease through Renal Dialysis for Ogun State indigenes who struggle to pay medical bills due to the high cost of these services. The foundation is determined to commence this FREE service by December, 2023.

Dr Tunde Diya prayed and thanked the life patrons of the foundation, LT. General D.O.Diya ( rtd) GCON, mni, Otunba Mrs Josephine Diya and late Otunba Mrs Folashade Diya as his greatest and continuous motivation. His entire family, The people of Odogbolu, The Alaye of Odogbolu, Alayeluwa Oba Adedeji Onagoruwa and his Olori, The Dagburewe of Idowa, Alayeluwa Oba Yinusa Oladele Adekoya, The Chief Whip Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Atinuke Bello, The Former Transition Committee Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Honourable Obafemi Onakoya, Captain Sunny Adegbuyi, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Mr Biodun Shobanjo, Mr Remi Ogunmefun, Chief Ganiu Odunlami a.k.a Double Chief, Mr Nosiru Odunaya a.k.a ELALORO, Professor & Professor Mrs Atinmo, for believing and supporting the foundations’ vision from its inception.

The entire staff of the foundation from the Coordinator, Mr Damola Fayemi, to the Coordinator in the Diaspora, Mr Muyiwa Sonuga, to the Deputy Coordinator Mr Nurudeen Adekoya, the Secretary, Ms Teniola Avose, the Head of Education Department Mr Jimi Shorenigun and Director of Media, Mr Ademola Ogulana. The Supervisors, teaching staff and to hard-working Janitors, he referred to them as ‘the heroes of our present-day Nigeria’, as they are mostly youths that are eager to effect positive change in our country. The Chairman also commended the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR and the Ogun State Government on their positive drive since the launch of the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme ‘OGSHIS,’ ensuring low and middle-income earning families have affordable and accessible healthcare coverage.

To the Youth and the foot soldiers of democracy, innovation, growth and development, may the words of President Barack Hussein Obama continue to resound in our minds; ‘THERE IS NOTHING FALSE ABOUT HOPE’, the dream continues, and the struggle never ends. In the name of almighty God, we will continue to transform lives positively, while building our future together. God is the Greatest. – Dr Tunde Diya concluded.
