Chelsea Legend Hasselbaink Mocks Kepa After Penalty Miss

Chelsea legend, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has mocked Kepa Arrizabalaga after the Chelsea goalkeeper’s wayward penalty against Liverpool during Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Kepa’s penalty miss during the shootout proved the decisive moment in an epic final defeat against Liverpool.

Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel restored Edouard Mendy to his starting XI on Sunday, despite Kepa’s heroics in the League Cup this season.

And the Chelsea manager’s decision was vindicated during an absorbing contest, with Mendy making a string of superb saves during the game.

And Kepa, who was controversially introduced as a late substitute for Mendy ahead of the penalty shootout, was unable to save any of Liverpool’s 11 penalties.

The worst moment came when it was Kepa’s turn to take the shootout, as the Spain International blazed his effort way over the crossbar to hand Jurgen Klopp’s Reds the first major silverware of the season.

“He was confused with taking a goal kick and a penalty,” Hasselbaink said, according to Metro.

“It was a good goal kick, though.

“Taking a penalty is not one of his strongest points. Tuchel made the decision to bring him in for penalties, because he thinks he is better at saving penalties.

“I wouldn’t have advised him to take it with his laces.”
