President Buhari’s Special Assistant on Digital/New Media, Tolu OG0nlesi, has explained why a Major General was chosen as a replacement for Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, the immediate past Army Chief who lost his life in a tragic plane crash last Friday, May 21.

President Buhari on Thursday, May 27, announced Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya as Attahiru’s replacement.

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, via her Twitter handle, questioned the appointment of a Major General as the new Chief of Army Staff.

She Wrote;

‘Does this appointment of a Major General as Chief of Army Staff by @NGRPresident mean we shall lose some of the best of our Senior Officers of the @HQNigerianArmy ? I hope not.”


Tolu saw her comment and responded, explaining why a Major General was picked.
