Adeleke Dethrones Three Osun Monarchs, Orders Staff Audit

Three monarchs chosen by Adegboyega Oyetola, the former governor of Osun State, have been removed by Ademola Adeleke.

Recall, Several monarchs were named by Oyetola a few weeks before Adeleke took over as ruler.

Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Yinusa Akadiri, Aree of Iree, Oba Ademola Oluponle, and Oba Adegboyega Famodun are among the recently installed kings.

The appointment of 30 permanent secretaries to the various ministries was also approved by the prior governor.

However, Adeleke declared that the thrones of the Akirun of Akirun, Aree of Iree, and Owa of Igbajo would remain vacant until the conclusion of an investigation by a committee of inquiry into their selections and subsequent installations in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, about 24 hours after the inauguration.

The governor’s six executive measures, which touch on overturning appointments made by monarchs, appointing and placing civil officials, hiring people, and freezing government accounts, were signed this morning and are now in effect.

“All appointments of traditional rulers made by the Osun State Government after July 17, 2022, are thus ordered to be evaluated to verify there was strict conformity with local law, custom, and tradition relating to such chieftaincies as well as the chieftaincy declarations’ due procedure.

The appointments of Akinrun of Ikinrun, Aree of Ire, and Owa of Igbajo are now postponed pending review in the cases of Ikirun, Iree, and Igbajo in order to prevent a further collapse in law and order.
As a result, security agents are thus instructed to assume control, and the palaces of Akinrun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree, and Owa of Igbajo should be left empty.
