As expected, Manchester United were on the back foot for large parts of their match at Manchester City on Thursday evening. Luckily for Jose Mourinho’s side, the defence was superb at keeping the hosts at bay.
Leading the backline with supreme confidence, Bailly made superbly-timed tackle after superbly-timed tackle. United fans praised him on Twitter, calling him the wall. They repeatedly mentioned the fact that he was only 23-years-old.
There’s undoubtedly a lot to be excited about with Bailly. The Ivorian centre-back has settled into life in the Premier League in terrific fashion. A relative unknown when he arrived from Villarreal, he’s now a bona fide United hero.
And to think that he could have joined City last summer.
Great team display
Bailly wasn’t the only one to make United fans proud. Dailly Blind showed why he should have a future at United and David De Gea dealt with everything that was thrown at him.
Ultimately, it was a very disciplined display – until Marouane Fellaini’s red card.
