Ten Hag Feels Sorry For Man United Goalkeeper De Gea
Manchester United boss, Erik Ten Hag has said that it hurt him when goalkeeper David De Gea made those mistakes on Thursday in the Europa League quarter final against Sevilla.
He said the entire team let the goalkeeper down by not fighting back for him to cover those errors that led to United’s exit from the competition.
The Spaniard bounced back from those errors to impress in United’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton on Sunday, making key saves to deny Alexis Mac Allister, Julio Enisco and Solly March during the 120 minutes of action.
Ten Hag was delighted with the response from the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
“I was very impressed with him,” ten Hag told reporters after the game.
“He made some brilliant saves. It hurt when he made mistakes on Thursday.
“Often when you make mistakes as a keeper you get punished. We let him down, we didn’t fight back for him.”
