Rema’s Calm Down Becomes First Song To Spend One Year On Billboard US Afrobeat Chart

Renowned artist and entertainer, Divine Ikubor, famously known as Rema, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his career.

His track ‘Calm Down,’ a collaboration with Selena Gomez, has made history by becoming the first song ever to maintain its position at the summit of the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart for an entire year.

The news was officially announced by the American data collection entity ‘Chart Data’ on August 28, 2023. ‘Calm Down’ has managed to retain its number one status on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart for an impressive span of 52 consecutive weeks.

The journey of ‘Calm Down’ commenced when it debuted at the top spot upon the inauguration of the MENA Chart by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on November 29, 2022.

In addition to this monumental achievement, ‘Calm Down’ has secured a place in the Guinness World Records as the very first No.1 hit on The Official MENA Chart, which stands as the world’s pioneering regional streaming chart.

Rema, who became part of Jonzing World record label in 2019 under the mentorship of D’Prince, affiliated with Mavin Records, continues to solidify his presence as an immensely talented singer, songwriter, and performer.
