Liya Leaves Davido’s Record Label, DMW Two Years After Signing

Liya, whose birth name is Abdulsalam Suliyat Modasola, is a well-known Nigerian singer and songwriter who recently made headlines when she joined Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), Davido’s record label

However, in response to a question from one of her Instagram followers, Liya revealed that she is no longer officially signed to DMW. Despite this change, she emphasized that she will always consider herself a part of the DMW family.

Liya first captured the music world’s attention with her debut single titled “Melo,” which she released shortly after signing a record deal with DMW in 2020. This milestone was significant as she became the first female artist to be signed by Davido to his label, earning her the title of “First Lady” of DMW.

Davido himself made the announcement of her signing through his social media platforms, further solidifying her place in the industry. Even before the official announcement, Liya had already teased an upcoming track called “Be My Vibe.”

Her talent is managed and nurtured by Vanzy Vanz, who serves as her manager. At the young age of 24, Liya is a promising Nigerian Afrobeat singer known for her distinctive voice and tone. She received her primary and high school education in Lagos before pursuing linguistics studies at the University of Ilorin.

While her official status with DMW has changed, Liya’s undeniable talent and strong connection to the DMW family promise an exciting future for this gifted artist in the Nigerian music scene.
