The Elegushi Royal Family of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State has distanced itself from the socialite known as Samson Balogun, popularly called Sam Larry.

In an official statement released on Thursday, September 14, 2023, the royal family disclaimed any affiliation with the show promoter.

They clarified that Sam Larry‘s visits to the palace were merely to pay respects to the king and seek blessings, a practice open to all members of the public.

The royal family also extended their condolences to the family of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, famously known as Mohbad. They joined the chorus in calling for a thorough investigation into the 27-year-old’s untimely passing.

The statement emphasized:-
“Samson Balogun [Sam Larry] is not a member of the royal family and doesn’t work for the royal family or the king in any capacity. Like other celebrities, politicians, religious and community leaders, he visits the palace to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings, just like other members of the public.”

In the wake of a video surfacing online showing Sam Larry and his associates disrupting Mohbad‘s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile, he faced significant backlash on social media.

Mohbad‘s passing on Tuesday, September 10, 2023 marked a somber event, occurring just a year after his contentious departure from Naira Marley‘s Marlian Music record label.
