FG Tackles ASUU Over Strike Extension, Says All Demands Have Been Met
The federal government has condemned the decision of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to extend the one-month warning strike it had commenced on Feb 14 by another 2 months.
The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, while speaking to newsmen at the end of the commemoration of the 2022 Commonwealth Celebration in Abuja on Monday, March 14, said the government has met all the needs of ASUU.
Nwajiuba stated that all earned allowances, as well as revitalization funds, had been released, and wondered why the union would extend the industrial action.
Recall that ASUU had in a communique released on Monday, March 14, announced the extension of the one-month warning strike it started on February 14. It gave reasons for the extension as the failure of the Federal government to meet its demand.
