Arsenal Goalkeeper Ramsdale Praised After 2 – 2 Draw With Liverpool
Jamie Carragher has apologised to Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, following the goalkeeper’s performance against Liverpool in Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
The Liverpool legend said he was completely wrong to criticise Arsenal’s signing of the England international.
The 24-year-old made some outstanding saves during Arsenal’s meeting with Liverpool at Anfield to deny Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate from finding the winning goal for the Reds.
Caragher was one of the many pundits who criticised Arsenal for spending around £24million to bring in a player who had suffered successive relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
But the former Liverpool man has now conceded that he was wrong to do so and feels Ramsdale has emerged as a top player and key part of Arsenal’s title push.
He said;
“Listen, we all say different things at different times and you’re proven wrong about managers, players, certain teams,” said Carragher on Sky Sports.
He added: “I don’t think I’ve ever been more wrong – or certainly this season proven wrong – [than] by Aaron Ramsdale.
“I watched him at times obviously with different teams where he goes down, you see lots of goals go in, you think, ‘Can the keeper do better there?’”
