House Of Reps To Investigate Multiple JAMB Examination Charges
The House of Representatives has directed its committee on tertiary education and basic education to investigate the multiple processing and administrative fees levied on candidates by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and its accredited CBT agents.
This comes after a representative from Edo State, Sergius OG0n, during plenary moved a motion stating that, in addition to the registration fees charged for JAMB examination, Computer Based Test Centres also charge another service fee.
Mr OG0n revealed that most of the complaints were from candidates who live in villages and lack CBT centres and have to travel long distances and incur additional transportation costs in order to register for the examination or perform a JAMB-related service that could only be performed in a CBT Centre. He explained that candidates who are unable to pay the fees have to opt-out of taking the exam.
The house adopted the motion and gave the committees 4 weeks to report back for further legislative action.
