Reactions As Jaafar Jaafar Tells President Buhari To Pick A New Chief of Army Staff From South-East

A Nigerian journalist, Jaafar Jaafar has told President Muhammadu Buhari to select his next Chief of Staff from the South East.

Recall that the former COAS Ibrahim Attahiru died in a plane crash on Friday May 21, alongside other military officers. 

Jaafar in a Facebook post he shared, said Buhari should chose Major General Benjamin Ahonotu who led the first major crackdown against Boko Haram and captured its leader, Mohammed Yusuf.

He further said that picking Ahonotu as the new COAS will also give the ailing unity of the country a little elixir. 

The journalist wrote; 

My choice is Major General Benjamin Ahonotu, who led the first major crackdown against Boko Haram and captured its leader, Mohammed Yusuf.

To also give the ailing unity of the country a little elixir, this officer should be appointed the new chief of army staff.
