WEAC Supervisors Arrested In Some States Over Examination Malpractice

WEAC supervisors arrested in Lagos, Kano, Bayelsa, Kaduna, over malpractices

Some officials of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) supervising the ongoing national examination have been arrested over their alleged involvement in exam malpractices.

The head of Nigeria’s national office of WAEC, Patrick Areghan made the disclosure during a visit to some of the examination centers in Abuja.

He stated that no fewer than 10 supervisors have so far been arrested in Lagos, Kano, Bayelsa, and Kaduna state, adding that corrupt supervisors who were unfortunately nominated by the various states ministry of education posed the biggest threat to the smooth conduct of the examination.

Areghan explained that these supervisors, for a prize, allow candidates to take their phones into the exam hall, where pictures of the exam questions are taken and posted on certain platforms. He all#ged that some of the supervisors are members of the syndicate group running the platform.
