Peace In Niger Republic Matters To Nigeria – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said peaceful coexistence in the country’s neighbouring country, the Niger Republic matters a lot to Nigeria.

The President in a statement released through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said whether, national or individual matters, existence or non-existence of peace with our neighbours (Niger) also affects Nigeria’s well-being.

Naija News understands that Buhari stated this while commending the country’s outgoing President Mahamadou Issoufou and his government for keeping to their country’s Constitution with respect to run-off polls scheduled for February 21, 2021.

Speaking while receiving in audience former Nigerian Vice President, Namadi Sambo, who is ECOWAS Head of Mission on the elections in the Niger Republic, Buhari wished Republic of Niger, Sambo and his team-best of luck in the coming weekend run-off polls.

Buhari congratulates Sambo on the first round of the elections, which produced no clear winner, a development which resulted in a run-off scheduled for Saturday as prescribed by the Constitution of the country.

In his remark, the ECOWAS Head of Mission said campaigns have been peaceful thus far, as the contending political parties seal deals and alliances for outright victory.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Senate on Thursday denied knowledge of plans by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to sell 36 Federal Government properties, Naija News reports.
