65 corps members to repeat service, 81 gets service extension

 

The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed that no fewer than 65 corps member will be repeating their service year for engaging in actions that contravened the bye-laws of the scheme.

The Coordinators of the NYSC in various states made the announcement during the passing out parades that took place across the country on Thursday, April 28.

The offenses committed by the sanctioned corps members include absconding from service, unauthorized journeys, and other miscellaneous offenses that violated the laws of the scheme in Nigeria.

Nine persons were sanctioned in Abia state, while five others received commendation certificates. 12 corps members who absconded from service will be remobilized in Enugu state to start service afresh whenever they reappear. Also, another 38 corps members who participated in the 2021 Batch A, Stream II, NYSC, had their services extended.

In Ondo state, 14 of the 1, 260 corps members will repeat their service year, while the service year for 13 corps members was extended.

Similarly, the state coordinator in Ebonyi State, Bamai Dawuda, on Thursday, stated that 18 corps members will repeat their service year in the state, while 20 corps members in Akwa Ibom will repeat the service for abscondment, and 30 of them who indulged in acts of misconduct ranging from absenteeism, unauthorized journeys among others, would have to face extended service from two weeks to four months.
