Gareth Southgate Shock Supporters With His Provisional Squad Ahead Of The FIFA World Cup

The head coach of England, Gareth Southgate has released his 55-man list ahead of the FIFA World Cup that will be hosted in Qatar.

The proveisional list was made available on the official website of the Athletic on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022. Southgate included some expected players in the list while some names came as a shock to supporters of the Three Lions.

Crystal Palace, Ebere Eze, Leicesters James Maddison and Newcastle striker Wilson are among the names picked in Southgate, alongside Brighton’s Lewis Dunk.

The major surprise on the list is Brighton’s Danny Welbeck and Chelsea’s Reuben Loftus-Cheek. Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson is also part of the squad.

Southgate is expected to release his 26-man list on Thursday, November 10th, 2022 for the competition which starts on Sunday, November 20th, 2022.
