Ex-CBN Governor, Charles Soludo Joins Anambra Guber Race

A former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Charles Chukwuma Soludo has declared his intention to contest the Anambra governorship election.

Soludo is seeking to contest the governorship seat on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Naija News understands.

Declaring his intention on Thursday, Soludo said his intention is to continue the good work started by current Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano.

He said: “I granted an interview where they asked if I still stand by what I said in 2017 that ‘if Anambra is not broken, why mend it and I told them that Anambra is more sound now.

“In 2010, Federal Bureau of Statistics conducted a survey and said the poverty rate in Anambra was 53 per cent.

“In 2020, it conducted another survey and said poverty rate had gone down to 14.7 per cent, what else can you use to measure good governance.

“Anambra is doing well under Obiano and my mission is to continue and complete all the legacy projects of the governor.”

According to NAN, present during his declaration were many APGA chieftains including the chairman of the party in the state, Nobert Obi.

Naija News recalls the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed November 6, for the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed March 6, 2021 for the conduct of its zonal congresses in the six geo-political zones of the country.

This was announced on Wednesday by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan as part of the outcome of the meeting by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

He noted that aspirants for the various offices including aspirants for National Ex-Officio are expected to submit their nomination forms latest by February 25, 2021.
