Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has issued warning to teams preparing to face a resurgent Chelsea side after the Blues beat AC Milan 3-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.

He noted that Graham Potter’s side are beginning to gather momentum after a slow start to the Premier League season.

The former England defender believes momentum is building at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues also coming out on top in Saturday’s Premier League game at Crystal Palace.

Goals from James, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw the Blues outclass the Italians and gave the Blues their first European win under Potter

Ferdinand said on BT Sport,

He said;

“There was pressure on Chelsea tonight because they haven’t been great in the Champions League. You have to get the points on the board at home.

“They didn’t just win, they were even able to rest some players towards the end ahead of this weekend’s game.

“Momentum is key and they’re starting to build that I think. The crowd will be happy with what they saw today. It’s another step in the right direction.”
