Heart felt message of an affected moorite
Barely four years ago, I accepted my admission, to study Agricultural Engineering(farm power and machinery option) at the oldest institution in west Africa, Federal college of Agriculture, moor plantation Ibadan. My vision was to become one of the renowned Agricultural Engineers out there, not knowing that I had the right dream but the wrong choice of institution.
In my first year,the college calendar was interrupted for countless number of times which inevitably turned the two years to obtain a *Higher National Diploma*(HND)as laid down by the NBTE into four years(as if I am taking a degree program), after about four years of calculus,technical drawing,irrigation and drainage system,thermodynamics among other time demanding courses which I had read assiduously to pass,by burning night candles coupled with the in conducive hall of residence both on campus and at her annex Bora.
All this was due to the lackadaisical attitude of the college management’s headed by Engr.(DR) Babajide Adelekan being the college provost, I won’t also forget to make mention of the threat and damages cause by the Joint action Congress, each and every time they had issues with the management, those that were duly employed by the government to mentor us and those we looked up to as a role model , suddenly turned hooligans.
Fast forward 2018, after about four years of rigorous and unstable academic calendar, we finished our final examination and we all graduating student was in the euphoria of Ecstasy, bearing in mind that very soon we will all serve our Father’s land, but the Adelekan led administration,was at it again, on getting to the NYSC portal we got to know that Agricultural Engineering(Farm power and machinery) was no place to be found on her website,which implies the program we had laboured for four years has since lost its accreditation, due to mismanagement on the management’s part,I presume.
